(Beijing, February 3) The "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 Swimming China Open commenced its fourth-day races at the National Aquatics Center today as Swedish Stefan Nystrand grabbed the title of the men's 100m freestyle event.

Nystrand boasts the 2007 best result of 47.91 in the 100m freestyle and he also broke the 50m and 100m short course FINA world records in Berlin in November 2007.

Commenting on his result today, he noted: "It's not so good and I hope I can do better later."

For the Beijing Olympic Games, Nystrand said that he will have to accept the challenges from some ten swimmers around the world, among whom Frenchman Alain Bernard and Italian Filippo Magnini would probably give him the biggest troubles for his medal project.

This was the first time for the Swedish swimmer to compete in the finals held in the morning. As for the new format for the 2008 Olympic swimming competition, with finals in the morning and the preliminaries in the evening, the Swedish veteran revealed that "I prefer racing in the evening. However I can do nothing about it since it's already decided."
