(Beijing, February 5) German Antje Buschschulte clocked 1:02.47 to take the silver in the women's 100m backstroke of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 Swimming China Open at the National Aquatics Center today. The gold was wonby China's Chen Yanyan.
Compared with her result of 1:02.82 in the heats, Buschschulte shortened it by 0.35 this morning and said she was satisfied except that she didn't bring out her best.
As for China's Chen Yanyan and Liao Yali, who had also competed in the race, Buschschulte noted "They are pretty young and I hope they can swim faster in the Beijing Olympics."
"I'll have a better form in six months," she said, revealing her goal is a medal in the Games.
Besides, Buschschulte deemed the air quality here in Beijing was not as bad as it was reported by the German media, and she said after the tournament she would go around in the city with her teammates and visit such scenic spots as Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City.
