

(Beijing, February 5) Host China clinched two golds, two silvers and one bronze on the last day of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 Swimming China Open, with Chen Yanyan and Yu Rui winning the women's 200 backstroke and women's 400m individual medley respectively.
In the men's 200m butterfly, Poland's Pawel Korzeniowski clocked 1:56.06 to win the title, followed by Moss Burmester (1:57.79), the only swimmer from New Zealand, and Sakata Ryusuke of Japan (1:58.13), who led the group after the preliminary round.
Japan's Kato Yuka emerged the victor in the women's 100m butterfly in 59.18, 0.10 faster than China's silver medalist Xu Yanwei. Martina Moravcova of Czech Republic came in third with 59.47, while Poland's veteran Otylia Jedrzejczak placed sixth with 1:00.24.
Helge Meeuw of Germany maintained his form in winning the men's 200m backstroke in 1:59.65, followed by Sung Min of Korea (2:01.30) and Pedro Oliveira of Poland (2:03.40). China's Zhang Yu placed seventh with 2:06.34.
After taking a silver medal in the women's 200m backstroke yesterday, China's Chen Yanyan went on to beat a strong field to win the women's 100m back final in 1:01.98. Chen's teammate Liao Yali finished third in 1:02.92. The silver medal went to Germany's Antje Buschschulte with 1:02.47.
In the men's 400m IM final, Hungary's Laszio Cseh displayed overwhelming superiority by winning in 4:14.24, 5.16 secs faster than that of the runner-up Mateusz Matczak of Poland. Japan's Sano Hidemasa settled for the bronze medal in 4:21.22. China's He Xiaofeng placed sixth with 4:30.31.
The women's 400m IM final saw China's two young swimmers Yu Rui, 19, and Ding Mengqi, 13, finishing one-two with 4:46.31 and 4:50.32 respectively. The bronze went to Korean Jung Ji Yeon (4:52.27).
In today's last final race for the men's 4x100m freestyle relay, the Swedish team headed by Stefan Nystrand clocked 3:18.53 to clinch the gold medal. Kazakhstan finished second in 3:25.44 while Germany was third with 3:26.62.
